Introduction to Augmented Reality

Augmented reality (AR) refers to deploying virtual image over real-world objects. The overlay is executed simultaneously with the input received from a camera or another input device like smartphone.The superimposition of virtual image over real-world objects creates an illusion that can effectively engage users in a virtual world


The augmented reality (AR) can be distinguish into 3 main categories of tools:
  1. Augmented reality 3D viewers – Allow users to place life-size 3D models in the surrounding with or without the use of trackers.
  2. It can locate any objects that are hidden throughout a map of the real environment.
  3. Augmented reality browsers – It enrich the camera display with contextual data.

Usage of augmented reality (AR) to human life:
 
     They can use for education, entertainment industry such as gaming, industrial usage and medicine. It can give the people the real-life visual of what exactly the thing or objects is developing or are working on directly even the object are still in development or far away from a person and simply accessible at any places.
   

   Advantages of Augmented Reality: 
  1. The system is highly interactive in nature and operates simultaneously with real time environment
  2. It reduces line between real world and virtual world.
  3. It enhances perceptions and interactions with the real world.
  4. Usage in healthcare, it helps in efficient diagnosis of diseases and in early detection of them.
   Disadvantages of Augmented Reality:
  1. It is expensive to develop the AR technology.
  2. Lack of privacy is a concern in AR based content.
  3. In entertainment industry which is gaming, it can be addictive.
  4. It requires basic learning to effectively use AR compliant devices.
   Benefit of Augmented Reality:
  1. People build more bonds with others.
  2. Experience the difference when connecting to different people in different countries.
  3. Improving health by exercising (augmented reality game is more to movement of the body).
  4. More fun by accepting challenges even just in a graphical technology.
 Aim/Goal of the project:
  1. Bringing together strangers (From unknown person to become acquaintance).
  2.  Connecting communities.
  3. Improving health.
  4. To enable the break out of the confines of the screens.
  5. To have deeper human connection to each other with deeper connection with real world.
  6. Making the digital experiences more real, interactives and reflects real-life interactions in real world.
